First impressions of Makeup Revolution's Flawless Matte palette!

Yes, I spent my last little bit of money on an eye shadow palette, It now seems clear I have a fully fledged shopping addiction... All I can think about is how close it's getting to PAY DAY, the reason being so I can do lots more shopping, whoops.

Anyway I'll get into the review and first impressions! So after walking into super drug and establishing that I've never tried anything from Makeup Revolution I decided I wanted to try something from their range, so I picked up this Flawless Matte Palette for just £8:00!
The Packaging

Firstly the packaging is nothing special, which is obviously expected for such a reasonably priced product, however it is neat and presentable in it's simple black case.

The shades

The first thing I looked at, even before purchasing it, was the colour range of the palette. I instantly liked the idea of a whole matte palette as I didn't already own one and this palette consists of some beautiful colours; ranging from neutral taupes and browns to greeny/greys and pale pinks, I love the colours this palette has to offer. If this palettes not for you, I noticed Makeup Revolution have so many different palettes!

How they apply

These eye shadows are very fine powders so they apply very smooth and glide on, however as they are so fine I would definitely recommend using a primer before applying them, this will prevent fall downs, they will stay on better and they will appear more pigmented.

Pigmentation

For the price I wasn't expecting these to be as pigmented as they are, and I tried them without a primer! It is hard to appreciate the pigmentation over a camera but you can still see these are pretty pigmented for £8.

From top to bottom these shades are: Taupe, Matte, Stone, Earth and Charcoal,

I also created a neutral but defining look with this palette using a variety of the shades.

The Verdict

Overall for £8 I really like this palette, my favourite thing about it is the variety of different colours, 32 to be precise, and how soft they are, I think I will use a primer with them next time as it will make them even more pigmented and stay on better, as well as preventing fall downs.

I hope you enjoyed this little review and first impressions and I will link this palette below!

Younique Sculpting Trio Review!

After pushing myself through yet another exam today I was so excited to find that my Younique Sculpting Trio had arrived! I gave it a go straight away and I am very pleased with the results so I thought I would share them with you.

The trio obviously comes with 3 parts, a very soft powdered contour, a soft powdered highlight and a cream highlight! At £38 it is a little on the pricier side, however it is such a versatile product and you will definitely get lots of use out of it!

This brush is the softest brush I have EVER felt and is definitely worth £25! It comes with two sides, an angled contour brush and a paddle shaped highlight brush, it is perfect for applying both of the powders within this trio!

I really wish you could see and appreciate the difference that this trio makes, unfortunately the lighting wasn't on my side, but you can still see that my face has a healthy, bright glow and my cheekbones look more defined.

I thought I would show you from the side, as you can really see the glow on my cheekbones! As I am not use to contouring I used the contouring powder very lightly, however I can still see the difference and I will be using it more prominently as I become familiar with this product.

I would definitely recommend this product and the brush to go along with it, if you have slightly a darker skin tone you can purchase this in medium and also dark. I will link everything down below for you!

Amazing HD Brow Transformation!

Okay so recently I decided that I could no longer ignore my brows and that I wanted to make more of an effort with them, I normally get them waxed however after seeing people really pull off the fuller, more defined looking brows it really enticed me into investing in the HD brow treatment, and I am so glad that I did!

So here is a picture of my eyebrows prior to the HD brow treatment, I had deliberately not got them waxed for a long period of time as I wanted to grow them out a bit more. Looking back at this selfie my brows really don't do anything for my face; they are fairly light, shapeless and hair in all the wrong places, critical, but true.
I barely have any makeup on in this photo hence why I look different to the selfie below!

Here is what my eyebrows look like now, I am so pleased with them and I would recommend anyone to get HD brows done! I personally got them done at Simpsons beauty spa near Branston Hall and received amazing customer service and an exceptional transformation! It is fairly pricey at £35 but I 100% recommend it.
Look at the results! I purchased the HD brows BrowTec which is essentially a spoolie brush on one side and a soft, thin twist up pencil on the other, it is perfect for lightly filling in tiny gaps where you need to grow hair; this product really is amazing and the shade Bombshell matches my brows perfectly.

Finally the HD Brow treatment consists of 5 stages: Waxing, threading, trimming, tinting, applying makeup

My neatly refurbished eyebrows have definitely cheered me up through this very intense period of exams, that and Chad (Thanks- okay enough cringe)

I hope everything is going well for those of you sitting your exams! Good Luck.

2016 Spring beauty trends!

When not revising it can be hard to fill in free time that you find on your hands, i find myself experimenting with my makeup and looking at 2016 beauty trends for Spring; as i want to see what's out there and what's to come.

In New York fashion week one of the biggest trends was a bright, bold, blue eye. I was very sceptical about this at first but after trying it out on myself i realised how it really adds a fresh pop of colour to a makeup look.

A second prominent up coming trend is natural, air dried hair- This is obviously really easy as it means simply washing your hair and leaving it to dry!

New York fashion week highlighted the return of the red lip, i think a red lip is both timeless and sophisticated, and there is the right shade for everyone. I think many people (including me) will be thrilled to see this trending more widely throughout Spring!

There is definitely a chilled, chic feel to all the beauty trends that were presented at New York fashion week. If you're not one for intricate up do's- then this ones for you! A natural esc, chilled messy up do, this is super easy to recreate as the look consists of merely grabbing your hair and tying it with a bobble!

Okay so after looking at some of these 2016 beauty trends i thought i would incorporate all these looks into one and capture it as one look.

Featuring the blue statement eyes, the bold lip and natural looking hair-

I think this is such a bright, fresh look to embrace in the spring months, and it can easily be pulled off. I altered my bold red for a more pink toned red as it suits my skin tone better!

Incorporating the messy up do, the blue eyeshadow, and again the bright lip!

Personally i think that the simple, messy up do contrasts the statement makeup look perfectly- i think it's an effortless look that is great for a casual day! I really do like this look.

I really enjoyed writing this post and i will definitely do more of these featuring more fresh, new trends!

Luscious lipsticks!

My latest makeup obsession of 2016 has been lipsticks, i have found myself experimenting with different brands and colours! I thought i would share my top 3 recent favourites with you tonight, as i have been absolutely loving them!

1. One that i have been loving and wearing frequently throughout January is Macs Velvet Teddy it's such a great, versatile, every day shade that goes with so many different looks! It is a beautiful warm, mauve tone and it goes lovely with Macs Whirl lip liner. I love the pigmentation of Macs lipsticks and it has a nice, lasting consistency; however i would prefer the formula to be more creamy as i find myself having to apply lip balm before applying this lipstick.

2. Number 2 on my list has to be my new lipstick from Younique, this brand is fairly new to the UK and if you haven't already tried their products i would definitely recommend it as they are amazing quality! This lipstick is a Mood Struck Opulence lipstick in the shade Upscale,
it's a pearly, shimmery pink/ nude shade and i think it's absolutely stunning! It's perfect for everyday wear and it really does brighten up your makeup look.

I love love love the formula of this, it is super creamy and nourishing on your lips- i am definitely going to be buying more of these lipsticks- amazing.

3. To finish- Is also a new purchase, a Revlon Colour burst lip butter in Red velvet, i have been meaning to try these lipsticks for ages, as i have heard so many good review on them; and they have 100% lived up to their name. This is a beautiful deep red/maroon shade, it is so so nourishing and long lasting- i have to say this is my all time favourite drug store lipstick and i will have to get some of the other colours.
This picture causes it to look more pink than red, but it really is a beautiful colour, i will definitely be wearing it for valentines day!

I hope you enjoyed this post and enjoy some time to yourselves over half term! I am sorry about the photo quality as my SD card for my camera has gone missing i have had to use my phone camera-hence the quality.

Everyday Makeup routine

Today i decided to have some relaxing time and have a candle lit bath, I'm not usually one for a bath as i feel like i could be doing other things, and i therefore prefer showers, however after today i have changed my opinion on baths! I felt so relaxed and content after.

Candles help set the relaxing mood!

I also love lots of Bubbles as they make a bath so much nicer.

And finally some relaxing music, I felt like listening to some ed sheeran today!

After my bath I did my makeup, and I decided to share my everyday makeup look with you!

Firstly I put on a mascara that I've been loving at the moment, L'ORÉALS Miss Manga- mega volume, this makes my lashes so voluminous and black without making them look fake and going Clumpy.

For £8:99 (in boots) I think this mascara was a really good purchase, and I would recommend it.

Next I line my lower water line with rimmels Exaggerate water proof eye definer, I love this eyeliner as its a gell consistency meaning it glides along your waterline rather than feelings rough and uncomfortable to apply, it's long lasting and gives a nice bold effect to your eyes.

I then apply my holy grail makeup essential which I would struggle without, it's my Jane iredale pressed Mineral powder in the shade Amber, I could write a whole blog post on this amazing product but in a few words, it's long lasting, water proof, covers blemishes and redness whilst not being too heavy however it's buildable.

The only slight downside of this product is the price, it's definitely high end at £30 but trust me when I say it's 100% worth it, it's made out of minerals/natural products meaning that it only improves your skin, it also has an SPF of 30 which is great.

To finish I add some burts bees lip balm and spritz my face with the body shop setting/refreshing spray and I'm ready to go.

I hope you enjoyed my everyday makeup routine, that's all for today- Lauryn x

Urban Decay De slick Setting Spray!

On Friday i took a trip into town i didn't really know what i wanted to buy, however as i passed the Urban Decay counter in Debenhams the De slick Setting Spray caught my eyes and after previously hearing good reviews on it i couldn't resist...

Although I've only been using this product for several days i am so happy with the results and i need to give it the praise it deserves!

Firstly at £21 i do have to say it's on the pricier side of the scale, however in my opinion it's completely worth the money.

I have to admit i haven't yet taken pictures of the results but i will! You will just have to trust me when i say the product is definitely worth purchasing.

Yesterday i went shopping with my mum, i sprayed several mists on my face prior to applying my makeup and several after, this was at about 10 in the morning, and after a full day of shopping, getting hot in cramped changing rooms and busy shops my makeup had not really budged! I usually suffer with an oily T zone and chin and my mum commented on how this setting spray had minimised this! I am looking forward to using this throughout the school year meaning that i can take less trips to the toilets having to re apply my powder! Obviously this isn't a miracle worker, it doesn't make your makeup bullet proof however it helps prolong your makeup and reduces oil.

I have also noticed that this product doesn't cause any harm to my skin and it is very sensitive!

I promise to upload result pictures as a follow up to this blog post, i recommend this product if you are looking for a good setting spray, it is definitely one of my favourites for this month, what are yours?

SkinCeuticals blemish and age cleansing gell

When I first started to get a few spots at the age of 11ish mum use to let me use her face wash warning me to 'only use a little bit because it's really good', now I use it daily. Although it says for aging skin I find this works for younger skin just as well!

This face wash is my holy grail I would struggle without it now, it is a great versatile product as it can be used for makeup removal, to get rid of spots and for helping to prevent wrinkles!

Although this face cleanser is more high end at £22-£26 depending on where you buy it, it is 100% worth the price and keeps my skin feeling healthy and reduces blemishes on my face, I have also found this works on your back and other areas where you may get spots.

This amazing product lasts me about 5-7 months on average as you only need a 2p sized blob to cleanse your whole face.

SkinCeuticals also have lots of other amazing products that are also worth trying. I thought I would share this reliable product that is used in my daily skin care routine.

That's all for now, Lauryn x

Urban Decay Naked 3 palette & Aveda hair products!

Recently my posts have been really infrequent and i have been in need of inspiration, however i thought i would share a few beauty/hair products that i have been loving for many months now!

The first product is by Urban Decay one of my favourite high end makeup brands, although their products are a little more pricey they are definitely worth it, i have never been disappointed by the quality. A few months ago i decided to invest in the Naked 3 eyeshadow Palette as everybody is always raving about these palettes and i thought i would go for the Naked 3 due to the rose gold tones throughout the palette!

The packaging-

The packaging is a rose gold rigged tin, it is a nice, practical size to carry around and just like the other 2 palettes it comes with a fairly big mirror and a double ended brush.

The product-

It consists of an array of 12 beautifully pigmented shades, from smooth mattes, to shimmering pearls and gleaming metallics this palette has all you need to create a variety of stunning looks.

The pigmentation is really bold and the colours are long lasting! These are a few of my favourites: buzz, liar and blackheart.

I really recommend this product and despite the price of £38 it really is worth it !
My second favourite is a hair product brand that I swear by! Several months ago I discovered Aveda  when I was given some samples in the local hairdressers, These products state that they are made from 'pure flower and plant essences' and although a lot of products claim this I thought I would give them a try!

So I tried the shampoo, conditioner, the scalp revitaliser for thinning hair and also the leave in repairing conditioner, and I am safe to say that I was so pleased with the overall brand, my hair feels so much healthier, it has grown as well as thickened and the products leave my hair feeling so soft and looking shiny.

I have repurchased all of these products several times however I remain to buy the travel sizes as my pocket can't quite stretch to £22 for 250ml of one product, the miniatures are still pricey at £7 each but I seriously swear by them!

That's all for today
