Starting the gym!

So recently I have joined Fit for less and I have been going four to five times a week since I started. Before I first set foot in the gym I was so nervous and unsure of what to expect, In fact I almost talked my self out of it as I am such a worrier!

Luckily my boyfriend (Chad) has been going to the gym for quite a while now and therefore can guide me and show me how to work all the different machines at the gym, they may seem self explanatory but don't be surprised! If you're anything like me you will probably have a few giggles when you first try out a few of the machines but just laugh it off and then get to work!

For me visiting the gym isn't all about the physical results I see, I love coming home from a good gym session feeling so happy and uplifted- working out is not only great for your body but great for your mind and well being, so many good endorphins are released when working out and this is even more effective when at the gym as you are away from any distractions and mess that could distract you from performing at your best ability.

A few pieces of advice I would give to someone wanting to start:

  1. Find someone to go with who already goes to the gym or invest in a personal trainer (this can be pricey but you will see the results and it will set you up perfectly)
     2. DO NOT worry about other people looking at you or judging you- This was something I was really concerned about however the reality is everyone is getting on with their own thing and really couldn't care about what you are doing!

   3. Avoid going every single day- Even if you are eager or want to see changes quick you need to give your body a day to rest and repair, this way you will see those results quicker and avoid bringing pain to your body!

4. Invest in some gym clothes that are comfortable and breathable, you don't have to spend a lot of money, I picked up a cheap gym top in Primark and it definitely does the job of cooling me down when I'm working out! The only thing I would invest in is a good pair of trainers whether they're Nike, Karrimor or another good brand you need to be comfortable when you're spending a lot of time on your feet.

5. Don't compare yourself to other people in the gym whether it be their appearance or progress.. concentrate on yourself and your progress, meeting your goals is all that matters!

I hope this helps if you are thinking about starting the gym but have a few worries and doubts! Just go for it and you won't regret it one bit!

Back to reality!

After completely neglecting my beloved blog I have decided to start blogging twice a week from now on, I may even decide to blog on certain days but we'll see!

After a very sunny, eventful holiday I have decided to try and reintroduce some order and routine into my busier than ever life! But this is what I call living!

I am starting to become more proactive rather than spending time laying around when I get home from work as I've learnt there's not enough hours in the day! For example tonight when I got home I spent time with my family, went for a run because it makes me feel so much better and allows me to clear my mind, then I showered and made my dinner (sweet potato, cheese & beans!) I am now writing this blog post and just catching up on social media.
A pre run selfie, believe me I was so sweaty after

Although I decided not to broadcast my GCSE results on Facebook I wanted to share the fact that I am so proud of them, after putting in so much time to revise and dealing with exam nerves- I did it! 2 A*'s, 2 A's, 1 B, & 4 C's! Yay, what you put in really does pay off! When mum told me my results over the phone (as I was on holiday) I was literally so happy.

I am starting the gym when pay day comes round so I will keep you updated with progress and how I get along, as well as my running that I started again today!
I am sorry for the random holiday photos scattered throughout this blog post, it's just me sharing holiday pics and my thoughts at the same time!

On my holiday my good luck struck and my brand new go-pro broke, it has filled with water despite being 'fully waterproof' so all the good footage got deleted, including the video of me jumping off the big rock and cutting my toe- all for the vlog...and because my 5 year old half brother did so I kind of had to!

This is a cool picture that I saved from the Go pro footage! I think it's pretty cool, hence why I'm only exchanging the broken go pro and not taking it back!

So after a little catch up and my first blog post in almost a month I will leave it here, my next blog post will be a proper one and not just my jumbled thoughts!

St Barnabas Colour Dash 2016!

Yesterday me and my mum took part in an experience that was brand new to both of us.

As we walked away from the car the alive, uplifting atmosphere, and smiles belonging to thousands of people was already present. Different colours covered the showground: tutu's, wigs, leg warmers, and sunglasses all in their individual colours. We were ready.

We equipped ourselves with rainbow tutu's and pink sunglasses before approaching a crowd formed by thousands of excited individuals of all ages; the warm- up. It was like partaking in a very large scale aerobics class and everyone's adrenaline levels were rising. They did such an impressive job of getting everyone to wake up and more importantly warm up.

The run was extremely well organised and had a highly encouraging team of people to spur everyone one! The different coloured powder paint that was thrown over us every 1k made it so much easier to get through it and despite getting some in my mouth I thoroughly enjoyed being so colourful and vibrant!

Me and  mum ran the whole 5k without stopping and finished with a sprint finish in 35 minutes; considering we didn't train at all I was pleased with this result! After finishing the race we all received a bag with jelly beans, a medal, some water and a bag of powder paint which I thought was a nice way to finish the race.
Mine and mums celebratory high five!

I loved going home head to toe in so many different colours.

We will definitely be partaking in this run next year as it's for such a good cause and it was so much fun!
